Avocado

Postby sheffy » Sat Jun 19, 2010 6:34 am

Did you know that if you buy an avocado and don't need to use it straight away you can keep them wrapped in newspaper for a few days in a warm place before using them. If you buy one which is too hard and want to use it straight away you can soften it in the microwave. Heat on high for 1 minute or until slightly soft. Let it cool completely before you peel and slice it.

I normally stick hard ones in with ripe bananas to soften them as well.

Had some last we that came out like mash because my van was so hot on the way back from the supplier.

Really good tip. I get infuriated when I buy an avocado that is too hard.

Supermarkets often sell them when they are too hard.

Just buy them a week or so ahead of when you need to eat them?

I always have a stash of avocado in my house! Its one of my fave foods!
